I'm having trouble getting to free kits to install/run. They appear to be downloading fine, then when I double-click, nothing happens. Help, anyone?

Are you downloading the right kits?
Most of the free kits have 2 downloads associated with them. One for DSA, and one for use in other programs.
The DSA download is a EXE file you can click on to load into DSA.The other file is a zip for use in other programs.

download troubles

Yeah, I installed DSA about 2 weeks ago, happy with that, but...I've tried many times with the free ones, only success I've had was with the Christmas card kit. All other tries appear to be downloading, but the icon that appears is not the Daisy Trail icon, just a generic file. And then nothing happens when I try to run/install. I'm on Windows XP. Ideas???

What browser are you using to download...I use both Mozilla and Chrome, and will occassionally have the same problem, clearing my download folder, the download manager, and clearing all my cookies and cache helped.

Downloading previously bought kits

I had a new computer installed yesterday and tried to re download 4 digikits that I had previously bought. I went into history and clicked "download now" on the first digikit and a message came up in red saying "why can`t I download now?" The same happened with the other three, but I was able to download the freebies to my new computer. I clicked on terms and conditions, and according to this I can download each kit 6 additional times for up to 2 years. I downloaded to my old computer when I bought the kits and then to my laptop. How can I download them to my new computer?

Hi Ann,

I get the same thing here.

I think there must be a server problem. Underneath the "Why can't I download" buttons I see the following error message:
Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 8000ffff'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/MyAccount/Scripts/electronicDownloadSupport.asp, line 646

8000ffff
Do you still have your old computer and/or laptop? If so, you should be able to transfer the files by copying them to a removable drive or burning them to a CD.

This problem illustrates the need to download and SAVE your kits to a disk or other storage media for future use.....Do not save the kits to the computer you are using DSA on, because if an un-repairable crash occurs you will loose them!

I got the same message underneath as you quoted Alfred. As it said you could download the kits for up to 2 years, I thought I could just get another download for a new computer and didn`t see the need to copy them. I still have the old computer at the moment, but if I copy them will I be able to get the kits to go straight into DSA as the downloads do?

Hi Ann,

If you copy the downloaded files you should be able to run them (just as you did originally) to install the kits in DSA. Alternatively, you could just copy the installed .pack files to the %ProgramFiles%\Serif\Digital Scrapbook Artist\1.0\Packs folder on the new computer.
