Monday giggle! Things your mother said...

We've been having a giggle in the office this morning, talking about the things our mums used to say, which we now use!

I first noticed I was turning into my Mum when I found myself saying 'I want doesn't get' to my 3 year old, as well as telling both kids to 'stop while you're having fun'. I remember being completely baffled by that one as child, but now when my two are tearing round the house at witching hour (6-7pm) I completely get that they take it too far and it ends in tears!

What sayings have your borrowed from your Mum?

My mum used to say to me when I was little besides loads of other things I can't remember at the moment 'Slow down or you'll meet yourself coming back' and 'Don't pull that face 'cos if the wind changes you'll stick like it'

The classic don't come running to me if you break your leg. and how much more can you eat you must have hollow legs and a little bit of muck never did any harm. to name but a few.

My mum use to tell me to make sure I always had a clean hanky and always have clean underwear on when I left the house. Both things are redundant now as everyone showers and puts clean on in the morning and we all use tissues these days

"Don't do as I do, but do as I say", was a favorite in our house. Also, if we were getting too loud and running around, "it will all end in tears".

The classic really is when hearing this what do you say. "do you want a smack"..........yes please!!!!!!
now in this day, you are not allowed to give a slap, I think talking to them is not a help at all, listening to some of the mums when we are out., they need something to pull them up short.....hence the old saying above.x

Oh I remember my mom saying some of these very things. One that sticks out is ... Don't come running to me if you fall and break your neck... I always wondered if I would actually be able to run to her!! I stayed out of trees lol.

"Eat your crusts or you won't get curly hair". What's that about! "Am I talking to a brick wall" I use that on hubby! "Money doesn't grow on trees" I say that to him too! x
