Pixel size and printing 12x12

I am trying to print out some of my sbps now, and there are a few online sources - none I could find locally though. One site I went to said they needed something 3000x3000 pixels for a good resolution 12x12 print, but my jpegs - which I exported at 100% are only like 414x414. Even in .sbp form they are only like 1000x1000. I tried resizing the sbp from the jpeg format and it was so grainy it was unusable. I could use some directions on how to get the best resolution and how to get great quality 12x12 prints from my .sbp. I lost most of my .sbp info when my computer crashed so I am trying to print from what I have in my DT wall - which is in jpeg format already. any help would be greatly appreciated - I have read the other links and threads and not found what I was looking for - I found it very expensive to print my own 8x8 - goes thru a ton of ink and I really want 12x12's.
Thanks, Tracy

Hi Tracy,

If you're trying to print from what you have on your DT wall you're not going to get good quality 12"×12" prints, because the JPEGs on the wall are only 512×512; as you've been told you need a 3000px square image for a 12" square print, you're aiming for 240-250 dpi, and at that resolution your 512px square images are going to give you a print size of just over 2" square! You can resize your images to increase the number of pixels they contain, but even a good resizing algorithm like Lanczos3 still has to make a "best guess" about the missing pixels.

I don't understand what you mean by 1000×1000 "in .sbp form", since the internal format doesn't have a print resolution as such.

I export my pages as .pngs save them on a thumb drive and have them printed at Costco.. They are reasonable about 2.98 and only take a hour

Alfred -I'm sorry I just guesstimatated the 1000 x1000, as I couldn't recall the real numbers. Sounds like you may know what I need though.
What do I need to do to get the pixels increased to print a 12 x12? Is it possible? I mean thanks, now I know my old sbps can only be printed at wallet size, but what about new ones I create - is 12 x12 still too big?

Your 12"×12" size is perfectly achievable, Tracy. All you need to do is set the DPI high enough when you 'Export as Image'.

A setting of 250dpi will give you an image which is 3000px square; a setting of 300dpi will give you an image which is 3600px square, which is more than adequate. Just make sure you continue to export at 100% quality as you did before.
