What do you use CraftArtist for?

I have been using CraftArtist today to make a poster, and it has struck me that I use the software for so many different things! It has made me wonder what all our DaisyTrail community use the CraftArtist software for?

I also wonder what your most used tools and features are? Personally, I couldn't do without digikits, masks, backgrounds, multi page spreads and the colour picker to name a few!

How about you?

I have used Craft Artist for many things, including designing materials that can be applied to my 3D clothing I make.

Here is a page I did to show some dresses I made.

The thing I use the most is the various brushes that I make to add lace, beads etc.

Hi Kate
It's more a case of what DON'T I use Craft Artist for It's a phenomenal programme. I have PSE installed but I hardly ever use it now because I can do most photo edits in Photolab in CA2. I make flyers, brochures etc for work, all my Christmas/Birthday cards & obviously scrap pages too! I find that CA2 (and Serif PagePlus) cope beautifully with most of my graphic work. I have a graphic tablet and it's so easy to export PNG images (I make my own digikits)and take them into CA2 as embellies.
What's my favourite feature? Hm..Filter effects is high on the list. I love messing around making materials in 'format effects'! The scissor tool is very useful too and also the transparency tool.
Aww don't make me choose coz I love all of it

For fun. I also do a lot of work for the golf club and our daughters school. I have made scapbooks for friends. The one that will always be special is the one I made for a friend who looked after a puppy for a year to start her traing to be a guide dog. This book has gone with her with a cd in the back with a description of her first year and the pages.

Ha ha Maz, I know what you mean! I even use it for work presentations now!

Out of curiosity, is there anything you use PSE for because you can't do it in CraftArtist? I must admit that I use PhotoPlus instead for cropping sometimes when I need a bit more control of pixel dimensions!

cosybythefire, I agree with you about the fun part, and that it is good for making special things for the special people in our lives. I did a photo book for my father for his 60th birthday, and really enjoyed the process of going through all our snaps and memories. I even found a few handmade Father's Day cards I had made him when I was small which I scrapped in the photo book.

Hi Kate
I find that the clone tool is easier to use in PSE, the free transform tool to get perspective and the 'smudge' tool is useful too. The only other one I use occasionally is the magic extractor for complex cutouts but now I have a graphic tablet, the pen lets me cut out more precisely in CA2.
I was thinking back to the days before I had DSA & CA1, when I only had PSE. I used to make pictures and cards in PSE (adding things to photos from other photos etc) so imagine my delight when a friend told me about DSA!! Yee-haa!!

I bought some ripped distessed photo layered templates .PSD .TIF files.. no use with CA .opening these in PSE to get rid of the black layer and the shadow layer left with torn edge frames save as png then useable in CA, gives a torn photo effect...
Use microsoft digital image suite 2006 for photo projects and CA to arrange everything together..

Cards, cards and more cards. Some will take me several days to design and complete. Especially, recently, a condolence card to my cousins for my nearly 100 yr old Aunt. I included a little four page photo album with it and they loved it.

I do modify and re-use a new design and layout for people who won't see each other's cards

I have done this for many years - starting in Drawplus2.0, and recently discovered that many recipients actually keep them.

My need to create used to be chanelled into sewing and machine knitting, that is difficult now due to age and decrepitude Thanks to computers, digi scraps and Serif programmes I can still be creative and enjoy using colour.

Eventually I will embark on some little family albums - I really enjoyed doing the one for my aunt. So many photos to scan. If I live long enough!!

I use Photoplus for any precise photo editing - lots of flower extractions.

I have also used DSA for writing illustrated letters to younger members of the family. They're all growing up now!

I introduced a cousin to CA - she finds it very easy to use for her Christmas annual "news letter"!

Having used the programmes since DSA first came out, and seen it's use here - the limit of it's use is the imagination of the person using it.

What I use Craft Artist for

I use it to scrap and also for a newsletter for The Compassionate Friends, that goes out to about 300 people. I save my 8 page newsletter to PDF, put it on a jump drive which gets plugged into our laser copier and printed in color. So easy to move or delete graphics and text with CA. The group bought a big name editing program that I could never make sense of. So frustrating! Love my CA! Been with the program since DSA.
