Digital Juice

I have sent in a support ticket to Serif but whilst I am waiting for an answer wondered if anyone on here has experienced the same thing? Digital Juice worked fine on my old pc but I can't get the fonts to install properly on my new one. I have Quicktime installed and the update for the main browser bit but when I put in the disc one and go to file, install products, I get a notification box which says ' No valid preview disc inserted.' Now I don't know what to do or what else I need and I liked my juicey fonts.

What are these fonts - can you see them on the disk if you search it with Explorer? Do you need to install them using the instller on the disk?

If they are Windows fonts (eg truetype) you should be able to copy them to a folder on your computer and install them using the usual Windows font installer.

----------------
curiosity sent me to the DJ site - they are rather fun, and the answer to my own question is probably not

Are you using a different operating sytem now. This might have a bearing on it. I don't think this is really a Serif problem - but that's not to say they can't help with a solution.

Hi Annie, thanks for responding. These fonts are special ones belonging to Digital Juice and I should be able to install them using their Juice browser, as I did on my old pc but unable to this time. I have tried copy and paste but that doesn't work. Windows doesn't see them as fonts as they are dfj files. It is so annoying. I have been into the Digital Juice web site but can't make any sense of their faq's as normal they don't ever put the question you are looking for. I had it as one of Serif's special offers. If you go into Digital Juice web site you will get the gist of them maybe.

Hi oldfinger,

Did you buy the Digital Juice products from Serif directly?

Thanks,
Jo

hi Mary
gosh - we all seem to be typing at once. I've added to my first post while you were replying!

the site does seem to be very busy (as in appearance - not activity, though maybe that too!) I can understand you not getting much help there. It seems very hyperactive! Heaven help anyone with ADD.

Hi Jo, Thanks for your enquiry. In the meantime I have had a response from my ticket but not much help yet I'm afraid. I have to give more information although I am a bit stumped as to what else I can say at the moment lol.

Hello again

Ok so this is the reply from the installs team -

"From the fact this customer has successfully installed from these discs before suggests that the discs do indeed have the correct IDs that the software is expecting.

My guess is that either the latest "update for the main browser" has changed something beyond what we tested, the browser is looking for the discs in the wrong drive, or that the discs simply aren't reading properly anymore.

To test each of these I would recommend uninstalling the "update for the main browser" and stick to the one supplied on the disc (that we tested with) which is easily accessible by running setup.exe. Then try the disc in all available disc drives (if you have more than one) when trying to subsequently install the fonts.

If the problem still persists, can you let us know which drive letters correspond to which drive on your machine? That would help us to simulate the configuration to see if we run into similar issues."

Are you able to try this and let me know what happens?
Thanks,
Jo

hi Mary - I'm guessing here and maybe someone more knowledgable will correct me

I think the question is how many drives do you have and which letters are allocated to them, and especially which is the letter allocated to your CD/DVD drive.

Dunno if that will help

Update for the main brower - leaves me totally baffled

Hi Annie,

I think "the main browser" refers to the font browser which is supplied with the Digital Juice collection. There's an updated version available for download from their website, but the installs team seem to be recommending that Mary should stick to the one supplied on the disc.
