AlgeraBack Monday![]() Posts: 33119 Mail user Ignore | 05/07/2012 at 8:23pm Hi, If I have ever doubled up a file then I tend to cut and paste the one/s I don't want into a folder I create. Then check whether I have exactly what I want in the correct place. Only then do I delete the unwanted additional copies x I am sure someone technical will come up with a better whizzy and clever solution soon though ![]() |
bizzybazzahate the politics![]() Posts: 1138 Mail user Ignore | 05/07/2012 at 8:33pm just a little advice if the kits that have gone duplicate are freebie .pack files when you get them into the right condition.if you have lots of hard disk space make a backup folder somewhere other than my documents and copy the pack files from MyDocuments/My Digikits to that folder before doing any more projects then if you alter any you can just paste and copy the original back ...once done it saves a lot of effort down the road....as you download new kits just coptt them to your backup folder and your fixed......ive lost years of work by not backing things up so i learned by experience lol ![]() ![]() ![]() |
ClydesdaleLearner Cardmaker![]() Posts: 52 Mail user Ignore | 05/07/2012 at 8:55pm Even as a newbie I have found myself in the same position - and I did as Algera suggested and made a new folder. when I thought I had finished I found it difficult to move from one folder to the other to check what I had, or had not moved, so I did a print screen of one folder so I could compare them side by side. I found that helped me. I have loaded all my free digikits on to my external hard drive, and then copied and pasted them into "My Digikits" - but only after reading some poor crafters post where they had lost so much work - and I bet it was yours bizzybazza ![]() ![]() |
cait38Still Learning![]() Posts: 109 Mail user Ignore | 06/07/2012 at 10:52am Thank you all for the help. I had such a shock when i realised i had them all messed up via digikit creator ! Havent quite got the hang of that yet !! Its all right mess ! ![]() |
| sunset Moderator Enjoying!![]() Posts: 49408 Mail user Ignore | 06/07/2012 at 11:34am The only time that I've ever had kits duplicated is when I've altered something and/or renamed it. I once tried to rename some of the DT kits so that they would "group" better in the digikit, and the result was two of everything - I very quickly deleted the "new versions"! Instead I concentrated on my filing. I store (one copy only) of my kits in the "My Digikits" folder (which I divide into subfolders for DT, Karen, Angie, Freebies, etc to make it easier to check what I've already got), making sure that I haven't got a second copy of a kit lurking in the Serif program files on my C drive. Then it's easy to make a backup copy of "My Digikits" on my external hard disk drive. |
cait38Still Learning![]() Posts: 109 Mail user Ignore | 06/07/2012 at 11:50am I think ive one wrong when i been importing them with creator. Most are doubled up and all together. I did think of removing them all and then put them back in ? ![]() |
| sunset Moderator Enjoying!![]() Posts: 49408 Mail user Ignore | 06/07/2012 at 12:14pm Quick Fix - go to my digikits and put everything that you think is a copy into a new folder called "unwanted copies". When you've finished, drag that folder into somewhere where CA doesn't look for it - like the desktop - a temporary home for it. Now open CA and see if the digikits are what you want. Hopefully you will just have one copy of everything, but you still have your "unwanted copies" folder on the hard disk drive if you need to drag one or two back again. Eventually, when you've got everything organised to your satisfaction, you can back up your "My Digikits" in case of a computer failure and delete your "unwanted copies" folder ![]() |
cait38Still Learning![]() Posts: 109 Mail user Ignore | 06/07/2012 at 1:09pm Thank you i will try that. The files themselves in doucuments are not doubled up, just in my digikits when i select something !! thank you ![]() |
