hi angel01 - welcome to the forum

The best source of help to start you off will be to look in the programme Help (press F1 to open) enter shadow in the index and click display at the bottom. You'll find a lot of illustrated information there.

One-click Shadow Effects transferred from Compact

If you have upgraded from Craft Artist Compact and are missing the individual/one-click 'Shadows' effects category, don't panic... Craft Artist Professional actually has a more sophisticated Shadow tool up on the main tool bar - it's a blue square with a shadow beneath it (next to the paint bucket 'Fill Tool'). However, when I say 'sophisticated' I mean more complex, and I found it had a bit of a learning curve to it... so I lifted the Shadows category from a copy of Compact and installed it in CAP.

Please check your DT mailbox as I have sent you a link to the Shadows file - Forum rules do not allow for the posting of direct links in regular threads these days. Simply download the file and save it in the 'Instant Effects' folder of your Craft Artist software installation, which on my Windows 7 machine is located as follows:

C : Program Files(x86)/Serif/Craft Artist/1.0/Instant Effects

Thereafter, next time you open Craft Artist you'll have the Shadows category back again. But one thing you should know is that you can only apply one effect to an object at a time e.g. if you add a metallic effect to something and then apply a shadow effect from the shadows category, it will over ride the previous effect or vice versa. On the other hand, CAP's shadow tool CAN be used on an object that already has an effect applied, and it is capable of some really effective shadowing once you've mastered it.

In the meantime if anyone else would like the instant/one-click shadows category file just message me here on DT.
