Sand writing Font

I have gotten a few requests for information about the sand writing font that I used in one of my pages that I included in the GBAT6 Teaser video. I decided to go ahead and post the information here in case anyone else is interested. There is a little bit of a story behind it too. Here is the story:

My boss, Clarence, is so proud of a picture of him and his son at the beach. He calls it his "Rescue from the Waves" picture. He says that once when they were visiting a beach fully clothed, his son, young Clarence, made a bee-line straight for the ocean. My boss, had to run into the waves and rescue the reluctant tyke. He nearly lost his prescription sun glasses in the process.

I secretely got his Secretary to get me a copy of the photo and searched high and low for a font to write "Rescue from the waves" in the sand.

My idea was to scrap it and then pin it into a shadow box with various types of sea shells scattered and pinned around. It looked great when it was finished and I am so sorry that I did not take a picture of it. I gave the shadowbox to Clarence (senior) for his birthday and he LOVED it. Here is the page:

So back to the font. I found a few sand writing alpha kits on digital scrapbooking sites, but they did not look very authentic. I continued to google away until I hit pay dirt. I found a link to someone who had also become so frustrated looking for a decent sand font that they literally went to the beach and drew all the letters in the sand, took pictures of each one and turned them into a font.

For those of you who tried the custom font tutorial a few weeks ago, will realize that this was no easy task. So there you have it. Since you have followed this long story, I will reward you with a link to the font. The person that made it owns a rubber stamp company so it should not be competition for DT, but in case the link disappears, PM me and I will send it to you.

UPDATE:

The cost of the font is $13.00 which is expensive for a font so you may not be interested unless you have a specific need for something just like this! I justified it for the gift aspect.

Tracy,
At the top right just click on personal use and then add to cart. The cost is $12.98 US. The fees at the bottom are the shipping rates for their stamps. That does not appy to this because this is just a download.

I guess that is expensive. It is the only font that I ever bought so I had no perspective. It was worth it to me though for the gift aspect. There is a coupon to purchase it on a more commercial site taking it down to $10.38 So if anyone is interested in that site and coupon code, send me a PM and I will share it.

there is a Sand looking font in a popular free download site. I haven't tried it but it looks promising.

Sand Writing Effect

I've been searching for a decent sand writing font for ages but haven't found one yet. Not to be put off I've created a sand writing effect. You can see it here, although page one has lost a little roughness around the edge on uploading.

It works better with a rough style hand writing font as in page 2 (freefont called change tomorrow today) I've added a blend and a slight transparency to suit the sand colour. Let me know if you think it's any good and I'll try to sort out a way of sharing
