Changes to the DaisyTrail Team

Posted: 11th June 2015   Category: DaisyTrail News   By: jogaskin

Hi everyone,

We have some news for you today regarding the DaisyTrail team. Our lovely illustrator, Becks, will be leaving us shortly to have her baby girl.

You might own some of Becks's digikits; she's the creator behind His Story, Beautiful Birdcages and the Summer Seaside, Winter Village and Autumn Country CraftScapes kits. Becks has also made most of the latest free kits for DaisyTrail (including Eccentric Carousel and DigiTangle), and she has made a couple of the new CraftScapes kits that will be launching in two weeks. She's been busy! Her baby is due in July and we hope you'll join us in wishing her well.

We have recruited the incredibly talented Lauren to cover Becks's maternity leave, so she'll be with us until at least March next year. I asked Lauren some questions to help you get to know her:

How long have you been illustrating?

I've been drawing, doodling and sketching all my life. I have been working as a freelance illustrator/ fine artist since I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2007. I try to keep developing all the time and take a sketch book with me on days out to places like zoos and museums, trying to sketch different and unusual things.

Tell us about your illustration style:

My style is something I am always trying to evolve and am always willing in trying new mediums to develop my designs. Like many artists I am influenced by what has come before me. My own favourites artists span from those of the Art Nouveau movement to Disney character design, and comic books artists. They inspire me everyday.

What can DaisyTrail customers expect from your artwork?

I'm really looking forward to developing the DaisyTrail catalogue; there are already some wonderful kits available, and I want to bring something of my own style to compliment and add to the existing designs.  I look to my family and friends for inspiration as they often struggle to find greeting cards that suit their loved ones.

Have you got a favourite topic to illustrate? Why?

I love mythology, science fiction and the female form, particularly Victorian and Steampunk inspired characters. I enjoy letting my imagination run wild and I'm fascinated with beautiful costume design and alternative fashion which is evident in my personal work. Because of this I am often commissioned to create artwork for people who are inspired by the same things including book covers, logos and tattoo designs.

Where can customers first see your work?

The first collection I'll be working on is the upcoming Pets Collection (coming out later this year). Here are a couple of animal portraits I worked on prior to starting as an illustrator for DaisyTrail:

Welcome to the DaisyTrail Team Lauren!

Thanks for reading,
